Blue ( silver to dark gun metal blue) These dogs were originally bred by Ruang Paripon Potchanapisut. In the first few generations, the
dogs had long blackish-gray hair, ashy-gray, and a molten silver colour. In the present time, they were mated with dogs from Trad and Chantaburi provinces and produced the Thai Ridgeback dogs with a short and fine velvet-like coat.
The ridges in this colour are not usually big and most often seen are the lute and arrow ridges. The blue Ridgeback dogs with velvet-coats and eyes of amber are the most beautiful and rare to be found. |

Red ( light copper to dark mahogany) These are the original domesticated dogs in some Eastern provinces, such as
Trad, Chantaburi and Rayong. The length of the hair is usually short. Some of the reds later developed into dogs with fine velvet coats. They will give red puppies with larger and wider ridges. Their coat colours include all
shades of red. The rarest ones to be found are copper with short, fine and velvet-like hair. Mahogany (Tamarind seed-like) is also very rare and considered to be one of the most beautiful of colors. Any of the shades of
red may or may not have a black mask. |
